Lorenzo Lotto’s relationship with Marche was intense and his paintings have profoundly influenced local artistic events. During his stay in the region, where he resided for a long time and where he died as an oblate in the Holy House of Loreto, Lorenzo Lotto produced works of great pictorial intensity and strong pathetic suggestion. Marche is therefore considered among Lotto's most important places of immediate interest for the vastness and artistic pre-eminence of the documents that the painter has left.
The website www.lorenzolottomarche.it unities all places related to Lotto in the region with Jesi as focal point, thanks the significant presence of works by Lotto in the Palazzo Pianetti Gallery. The project was founded thanks to the sensitivity of the Lions Club present in the Federico II town and with the decisive support of Banca Popolare of Ancona, a partner in a project that in the name of Lorenzo Lotto has the goal of enhancing the link between the art of the great Venetian painter and Marche, acting as a vital instrument of knowledge and promotion of the territory and its precious historical and artistic heritage.
