St. Vincent Ferrer in Glory, 1513 - Recanati

The artist reestablishes in a stern key the image of the saint in the typical clothes of the Dominican order. A strong-willed and deep emotion animates the imposing figure seated on a cloud supported with great effort by 2 angels unnecessarily helped by other 2 angels that support the heavy cloak. The foreshortened shooting projects up the figure of the saint who turns his penetrating and warning gaze to the observer to whom he wants to convey his message that unfolds with relentless gesture pointing the finger of his right hand towards the court of angels that with trumpets announce the Judgment and scourges that will follow the opening of the seventh seal, according to the prophecy of the Apocalypse whose words are quoted in the open book.
